Who Says Low Rolls Are Useless? +5 Spirit Was All I Needed to Win!

In Path of Exile 2, sometimes you don’t need the biggest, flashiest items to win. Let me tell you how a tiny +5 Spirit roll on a ring helped me beat a tough boss and showed me just how powerful the right PoE 2 items can be—even if they don’t seem like much at first.

I was progressing through Act 5 and getting stuck on a boss that just wouldn’t go down. My damage felt okay, but I kept running out of mana, and my build depended on casting spirit-based spells quickly. I couldn’t afford big upgrades yet, and buying PoE 2 items with Divine Orbs wasn’t an option at the time. So, I checked my stash and found a ring with just +5 Spirit. Honestly, it looked like a joke compared to all the fancy rare gear with double mods or big stat rolls.

But I gave it a shot.

The change was immediate. That little boost gave me just enough extra Spirit to squeeze out one more cast during each fight. That extra spell often meant the difference between surviving and dying. I wasn’t blowing up enemies in seconds, but I could now handle longer fights, especially against bosses and elite mobs. Suddenly, that +5 Spirit wasn’t a “low roll”—it was my clutch ticket to survival.

Here’s what I learned, and what you can take away if you’re struggling:

Always test your PoE 2 items in real combat. Stats on paper can be misleading. Sometimes a “small” stat is the key piece in your build puzzle.

Check vendors and early drops often. Many players ignore low-tier PoE 2 items, but some of the best budget options are hidden in plain sight. Rings, amulets, and belts with niche bonuses like Spirit, Mana Regeneration, or Cast Speed can be game-changers.

Use currency wisely. Don’t waste Chaos Orbs or Divine Orbs on rolling perfect gear early on. Save those for late-game or to buy PoE 2 items from other players once you know what you really need.

Build around what you find. I adjusted my passive tree a little and added a mana regeneration node to go with the +5 Spirit. Suddenly, my whole playstyle was smoother—and I didn’t spend a single Orb to do it.

Low rolls still matter. A +5 Spirit roll might not impress in a trade, but when it fits your build, it’s priceless. Don’t underestimate the power of synergy.

Remember, every build is different, and every bit of extra help counts. The next time you loot a “bad” ring, stop and think: Could this actually help me? Don’t rush to sell or vendor it. Sometimes, all it takes is one small bonus to tip the scales in your favor.

So if you’re playing PoE 2 and feel stuck, don’t chase only the big upgrades. Check your stash, revisit your build, and experiment with what you already have. And if you do need that one special piece, buy PoE 2 items smartly—look for utility over vanity.

After all, my +5 Spirit ring didn’t just help me win—it taught me to see value in the small things. And that lesson is worth more than any Exalted Orb.
